Gaithersburg will be the first of three stops on a county-wide tour that celebrates the importance of the Census.  Festive events are planned at three sites in Montgomery County, with Rally for Montgomery tour participants, including elected officials, community leaders, Census officials and members of the media, joining in an all-day, moving celebration of Census 2010.

The free rallies are open to the entire community. Early bird visitors will find a free children’s book giveaway (while supplies last), light refreshments, the energizing sounds of Sol y Rumba featuring Maria Isolina, face painting, a moon bounce, and plenty of information about the Census.  Tour officials are expected to arrive at 10 a.m. The Gaithersburg rally is sponsored in part by the City of Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Government, the U.S. Census, Reading Tree, Safeway, Starbucks, Washington Parent, Church of the Redeemer, Book Crossing Club – DC, and God’s Connection Transition, Inc.
