Gaithersburg, MD – Friday, April 5 – The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC) Young Professionals Group helped feed 192 Montgomery County families last night.
The Chamber’s Young Professionals Group gathered at the Manna Food Center warehouse and packed 192 boxes with non-perishable food items that would be later distributed to Manna clients. Volunteers are vital to the work done at Manna, and our Young Professionals wanted to help.
“We partnered with Manna because we wanted to be involved in with the local community and impact families in need,” said Gary Aughinbaugh, AETEA Information Technology, Inc. Senior Account Manager and GGCC Board Member / Young Professionals Group Chair.
Eight GGCC Members volunteered an hour and a half of their time packing vegetables, beans, pasta, tomatoes, sauce, cranberries and even Girl Scout cookies into boxes.

Manna Food Center is the main food bank in Montgomery County feeding about 3,300 families each month. Last year alone Manna Food Center reported that they “relied on over 52,000 hours of volunteerism to keep our operations running”.
“Working with the Chamber, and especially the Young Professionals Group, has resulted in a fruitful partnership for Manna’s clients. We always need and appreciate young volunteers who take to heart our mission to feed the hungry, and really work in their community to build partnerships with Manna,” said Minerva Delgado, Manna Food Center Executive Director.
